How to use open data?

You can review the published datasets, download them in the format you need and process the data for your own work without licensing concerns.

Find the dataset

Use the search box, pick one of the groups or open the Datasets menu.

Download or connect to the API

CSV, XLSX, GeoJSON and JSON are open without registration. Use the CKAN Action API for live data.

Use it in your own work

You may use it commercially as long as you cite the source. If the data is missing, open a request.

Finding a dataset

The portal holds 232 datasets, 20 organizations and 10 groups. You can narrow the search results by organization, group, tag, file format and licence.

Tip: Use the tag filter for datasets that carry coordinates — geographic datasets are tagged. See geographic datasets →

Connecting over the API

The whole catalogue is machine readable over the CKAN Action API. Read endpoints do not need a key.

Licence and attribution

Datasets are published under Creative Commons Attribution licences. Citing the source is enough; commercial use is allowed. Suggested citation:

Data request and showcase

If the dataset you need is not in the catalogue, register on the portal and open a data request. Share the project you built with portal data from the Showcases menu and inspire other users.
